Reaching Office On Time

The institution’s most demanding course, attempted by few and completed by fewer. A rigorous study of the conditions under which punctual arrival is, against all the city’s instincts, theoretically possible.

Learning Outcomes

  • 01Model the full set of variables governing a timely arrival.
  • 02Identify the narrow departure window that makes punctuality possible.
  • 03Accept, with grace, the high probability of the model’s failure.
  • 04Explain a punctual arrival convincingly under internal review.

Syllabus

  1. Weeks 1–3

    The Variables

Traffic, weather, the diversion, the cab, the lift, the basement.

  2. Weeks 4–6

    The Departure Window

Locating the improbable hour at which it might just be done.

  3. Weeks 7–9

    Compounding Failure

How small delays conspire, and how to forgive them.

  4. Weeks 10–12

    The Aftermath

Surviving the investigation that punctuality inevitably provokes.

Assessment

A semester-long field trial. A single on-time arrival earns distinction; most candidates pass on resilience alone.
